CBCK school feeding program – September 2023 Edition
November 7, 2023
CBCK a faith based organization with the core mandate of mentoring and discipling young Christian leaders in the slums of Kenya, believes that children have the right to food. Every child has a right to be fed with adequate and nutritious food that assists them in their physical and spiritual growth. The sad reality in the slums of Kenya is that 3 out of 5 school going children are food insecure and at the risk of dropping out of school before attaining their primary or high school certificate. Pupils and students in schools have to endure 12 hours of learning every week (Monday to Friday) on an empty stomach. This problem is one of the various causes that is sustaining the cycle of poverty in the slums of Kenya. CBCK believes that denying children food is an injustice to them and goes against the command that God has issued to care and nurture children, 1 John 3:18, Mark 9:37, Psalms 127:3.
